Blissley is a technology platform operated by TheFactual LLC. We connect users with independent licensed clinicians and state-licensed compounding pharmacies. Licensed providers available through our platform exercise independent professional judgment. All prescribing decisions are made solely by the licensed clinician assigned to your case.

Compounded vs. FDA-Approved Medications

Licensed providers on the Blissley platform may prescribe compounded medications prepared by independent, state-licensed 503A compounding pharmacies. It is important that you understand the distinction between compounded and FDA-approved medications.

FDA-approved medications such as Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound® have undergone rigorous review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for safety, efficacy, and quality. They are manufactured under controlled conditions and subject to ongoing regulatory oversight.

Compounded medications are custom-prepared by licensed pharmacies for specific patients based on a licensed provider's prescription. Compounded medications:

Are NOT FDA-approved
Have NOT been evaluated by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality
Do not undergo the same clinical testing as FDA-approved drugs
Are not generic equivalents of, interchangeable with, or approved substitutes for any FDA-approved product, and may differ in formulation, concentration, and inactive ingredients
Should not be prescribed when an FDA-approved alternative is clinically appropriate and available

You should only receive a compounded medication if your licensed provider determines it is medically necessary for your specific situation.

Your licensed provider will obtain your informed consent before prescribing any compounded medication.

GLP-1 Medications: Educational Overview

This section provides general educational information about GLP-1 receptor agonist medications. This information is not a substitute for the clinical guidance of your licensed provider.

What Are GLP-1 Medications?

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonists are a class of medications that work by mimicking the GLP-1 hormone produced naturally by the body. GLP-1 helps regulate appetite, blood sugar, and feelings of fullness. Some medications also target the GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) receptor, which affects additional aspects of metabolism.

When used as part of a comprehensive weight management program that may include dietary changes and physical activity, these medications may support meaningful and sustained weight loss. Clinical trials of FDA-approved semaglutide and tirzepatide have demonstrated average weight reduction of 15 to 22 percent of body weight over 68 weeks.

Individual results vary. Weight management is influenced by many factors including consistency with treatment, dietary habits, physical activity, sleep, stress, and individual biological differences.

Medical History You Must Disclose to Your Licensed provider

Tell your licensed provider about your full medical history before beginning treatment. It is especially important to disclose if you have or have had:

Personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
Gallbladder disease or gallstones
Kidney disease
Diabetic retinopathy
Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes
Heart disease or history of cardiovascular events
Gastrointestinal disorders or gastroparesis
History of eating disorders
Depression, anxiety, or suicidal ideation
Any current medications, including insulin or other diabetes medications

Inform your licensed provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. GLP-1 medications are not recommended during pregnancy.

Providing incomplete or inaccurate medical history to obtain treatment may result in harm, including serious injury or death. Withholding information does not affect liability.

Common Side Effects

Studies have shown that GLP-1 and dual GLP-1/GIP medications may cause the following side effects. Not all patients experience these effects, and many resolve as the body adjusts to the medication:

Nausea (most common, particularly in early weeks of treatment)
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Constipation
Stomach pain or cramping
Indigestion or heartburn
Decreased appetite
Fatigue
Headache
Dizziness
Flatulence

Serious Side Effects: Seek Immediate Medical Attention

Discontinue use and seek emergency medical care if you experience:

Severe abdominal pain that may radiate to your back (possible pancreatitis)
Persistent vomiting or inability to keep fluids down (risk of dehydration)
Rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, or chest pain
Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction: rash, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing
Vision changes
Signs of kidney problems: decreased urination, swelling in legs
Symptoms of low blood sugar if you are diabetic: shakiness, sweating, confusion
Thoughts of self-harm or suicide; changes in mood or behavior

Report any side effects to your Blissley licensed provider immediately through your patient portal.

Dosing and Administration

Your licensed provider will prescribe a starting dose and a titration schedule appropriate for your health profile. Dose increases are gradual to minimize side effects. Do not increase your dose without licensed provider approval.

Injectable medications are administered subcutaneously (just under the skin) once weekly. Your medication ships with complete injection instructions and supplies. Contact your licensed provider if you have any questions about administration.

Oral formulations may be available where prescribed. Follow your licensed provider's specific instructions for the formulation prescribed to you.

Drug Interactions

GLP-1 medications may affect the absorption of other oral medications. Tell your licensed provider about all medications, supplements, and vitamins you take.

Shipping and Storage

Your medication ships in temperature-controlled packaging. Upon receipt:

Refrigerate immediately at 36 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit (2 to 8 degrees Celsius)
Do not freeze
Once a vial has been opened and punctured, use within the window specified on your medication label
Store away from light
Keep out of reach of children

Prescription medications do not come in child-resistant packaging unless you specifically request it. If you have children in your household, please request child-resistant packaging or store medication in a locked location.

Disposal

Do not dispose of syringes or sharps in regular household trash. Use the sharps disposal container included in your supply kit. Local pharmacies and community programs often accept full sharps containers for disposal.
